Civil War Veterans from Machias, Franklinville, Ischua, Yorkshire, Farmersville, and Lyndon

Submitted by the Ischua Valley Historical Society (Maggie Fredrickson), here is a list of Veterans who enlisted in the Civil War from the towns of Machias, Franklinville, Ischua, Yorkshire, Farmersville, and Lyndon. 

MACHIAS:

GEORGE ALLEN – enlisted in December 1861 in the 105th Infantry.  He died of wounds October 1862 at Smoketown and was buried there at the age of 30.

FREDERICK ROSENBURY enlisted November 1862 in the 105th Infantry. He was killed at Bull Run in August 1863 at age 38.  He left a widow and 6 children.

JAMES ADAMS enlisted in September 1861 in 21st Ohio.  He was a musician and was discharged September 1862.  He was 28 years old in 1865.

JAMES VAN SLIKE enlisted August 1862 in the 116th Infantry.  He died of disease in New Orleans in April 1863 at age 21.  He is buried in Baton Rouge.

NATHAN STARKES enlisted December 1861 in the 94th Infantry.  He died at Annapolis April 1865 at the age of 49.  He was a prisoner for 6 months.  A widow and 3 children were left behind.

B.F.H. ANDREWS enlisted June 1862 at the age of 19 in the 154th Infantry Company D.  He died in Libby Prison. 

ALSON HAMILTON enlisted October 1863 and served 3 years in the 104th Infantry.  He was 23 in 1863. 

HENRY NEWTON enlisted November 1861 in 105th Infantry.  Died in the hospital November 1862 at the age of 43 and buried in Washington. He left a widow and 8 children.

JACOB VANDENWATER enlisted in February 1861 in the 105th Infantry.  He was killed at Bull Run in August 1861 at the age of 21.

GEORGE VELZEY enlisted in December 1861 for 3 years in the 105th Infantry.  He lost a limb at Gettysburg.

DANIEL SHAW enlisted October 1861 in the 105th Infantry.  He was wounded and discharged October 1863.  He was 24 in 1865 and had served a total of 24 months.

ABIJAH S. DILLINGHAM enlisted February 1862 in the 94th Infantry.  He died in Annapolis February 1864 and was buried there at the age of 31.

GEORGE JOSLIN enlisted September 1862 in the 44th Infantry. He was killed in Spottsylvania in May 1864.  He was 19 at the time of his death.

JOHN SHOOTTA enlisted in the 105 Infantry in November 1862.  He died of wounds October 1863 at Smoketown and is buried in Maryland.

JOHN D. STARKS ENLSITED October 1861 in the 100th Infantry.  He was a Corporal when he died in Andersonville Prison September 1864 at the age of 22.

DUDLEY PHILLIPS JR. enlisted August 1862 for 3 years in 154th Infantry as a corporal.  He was 23 in 1865.  He was the son of Dudley Phillips.

RILEY W. MASON enlisted October 1861 in the 3rd Iowa.  He was 22 when he died.

DAVID H. CHERRY enlisted November 1861 in the 104th Infantry.  He served 9 months and was discharged with a surgical certificate August 1862.  He was 49 years old in 1865.

DEXTER MASON enlisted November 1862 in the Missouri Regiment as a sergeant.  He had been born in Massachusetts.  He served 22 months and was 53 years old.  His father was Izace Mason.

GEORGE A. STONEMAN enlisted December 1861.  He transferred to the 105th Infantry at the age of 22 in 1865.  He had been born in Indiana and served 40 months.

NELSON F. BILTON enlisted in August 1862 for 3 years.  He served in the 154th Infantry and also the 3rd Iowa Regiment for a total of 40 months.  He was 30 years old in 1865.

DELANO WARREN enlisted in Sept. 1864 in the 188th Infantry.  He was discharged June 1865 at age 19.  He served 9 months.  His father was Lucius Warren.

CARVEL G. STEPHENS enlisted August 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant at the age f 25 in 1865.  His parents were Albert and Lucy Stephens.

GARRETT ABERS enlisted in the 37th Infantry in 1861.  He served 22 months and was 48 in 1865.

ANDREW JOHNSON enlisted December 1861 in the 105th Infantry.  He served 36 months and was discharged at the end of the term.  He was 27 in 1865 and his parents were Richard and Helen Johnson.

NORRIS PHILLIPS enlisted September 1864 in the 188th Infantry.  He died at age 19.

JOHN B. JOHNSON enlisted January 1864 in 2 Mounted Rifles.  He died at Petersburg on  July 1864 at age 21.

ORSO THOMPSON enlisted September 1864 in the 188th Infantry. He was discharged with his company at the age of 19 in 1865.  He served 9 months.  His parents were Luther and Elmira Thompson.

CHARLES LIND enlisted February 1864 in 2nd New York Rifles.  He was 20 in 1865.  His parents were John and Amerila Lind.

OLIVER SELZEY enlisted November 1861 in the 104th Infantry for 3 years. 

EDWIN ALLEN enlisted December 1861 in the 104th Infantry.  He reenlisted in the 94th Infantry in February 1864.  He was 27 years old in 1865.  His parents were Solomon and Hannah Allen.

BAKER POOR enlisted September 1864 for one year in the 188th Infantry.  He was 32 years old in 1863.

DELOS PHILLIPS enlisted August 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He served 21 months and was 32 years old in 1865.

H.E. LOCKE enlisted July 1862 for 3 years in the 154th Infantry.  He was 35 years old in 1865.  His parents were Chester and Amelia Locke.

SPENCER LIND enlisted September 1864 for one year in either the 185th or 188th Infantry.  He was 23 in 1865.  His parents were John and Amerila Lind.

OLIVER VESPEY enlisted September 1864.  He served one year in the 188th Infantry.  He was 22 in 865.  His mother was Calista Vespey.

ALEX R. DILLINGHAM enlisted in the 154th Infantry in Company D for 3 years in September 1862.  He was 29 years old in 1865.

MERRITT LOWELL enlisted September 1864 in the 188th Infantry.  He was discharged in June 1865 at the age of 38. He served 9 months.

ALANSON BARNES enlisted October 1861 and re-enlisted in 1864 in the 104th Infantry.  He was a Corporal at the age of 21 in 1865.  His parents were Mason and Lucy Barnes.

GEORGE PHILLIPS enlisted August 1862 for 3 years in the 154th Infantry Company D at the age3 of 19.

THOMAS N. BILTON enlisted August 1862 for 3 years in the 154th Infantry Company D.  He was 28 years old.

CARTHALO CARVER enlisted in 1863 for 3 years in the Michigan Cavalry.  He was 20 in 1865.  His father was Sylvester Carver.

C.P. DEAN enlisted April 1864 for 2 years in the Navy.  He was 34 in 1865.  His parent was J.P. Jackson Dean.

JAMES LINGENFELTER enlisted September 1862 for 3 years in the 154th Infantry Company I.  He was 29 years old.

GALEN CHERRY enlisted October 1861 at the age of 17 in the 104th Infantry.  He re-enlisted the 2nd New York May 1864.  He was 21 in 1865.  His parents were David and Nancy Cherry.

DUDLEY PHILLIPS JR. enlisted August 1862 as a Corporal in the 154th Infantry.  He was 23 in 1865.  His father was Dudley Phillips.

H.L. PATTERSON and NATHANIEL PATTERSON enlisted in the 154th Infantry Company D in August 1862.

HARVEY HALL enlisted September 1861 in the 44th Infantry.  He served 36 months.  He was 24 years old in 1865.

ELIAS GOULD enlisted for 3 years in the 154th Infantry in August 1862.

MARTIN HIRAM enlisted August 1862 in the 154th Infantry Company D at age 23.

HENRY LITTLE enlisted March 1862 in the 105th Infantry.  He served for 3 years and was 36 in 1865.

ALANSON JOSLIN enlisted October 1861.  He transferred into the 104th as a wagoner.

NELSON AMES enlisted in the 24th Infantry.  He served 19 months and was discharged in 1865 at the age of 24.

 

FRANKLINVILLE:

JAMES CURTIS - was born September 1842 and enlisted in the 71st Infantry in June 1861.  He was wounded at Darlete Gap.  He was present at the surrender of General Lee.  He was discharged a captain at the end of the war.  His parents were Solomon and Sarah (Lyon) Curtis.

ADDISON GARDNER BURLINGAME enlisted June 1861 in the 64th Infantry.  He was wounded at Williamsburg and discharged. He lost use of his left arm.  He was 26 in 1865.  His parents were Selah and Hannah (McClure) Burlingame.

AUSTIN W. ELMER enlisted August 1864 in the Navy.  He died of disease and his body was sent home.  His parents were James and Harriet (Crosby) Elmer.

MARVIN OLDER was born August 1810 and enlisted October 1861 in the 6th Cavalry.  He was wounded at Chancellorsville and taken prisoner.  He was sent to Libby Prison.  He was released and served in many battles.  His parents were William and Harriet (Parker) Older.

THOMAS EFNER MCNALL was born February 1838 and enlisted in the 6th Cavalry.  He fought in many battles and was killed at Brandy Station October 1863.  His body was sent home to his parents William and Sibbel (Seaward) McNall.

WILLIAM WINTON JR. enlisted in June 1861 in the 64th Infantry. He was wounded at Fair Oaks and died in the hospital.  His parents were William and Ophelia (Smith) Winton.

LYMAN HARVEY enlisted in 1861 in the 6th Cavalry.  He died in Alexandria, Virginia in August 1863 of disease.  His parents were Alexander and Phebe (Shimier) Harvey.

GEORGE EUGENE GROVER was born in 1820 and enlisted in 1862.  He was a musician in the 154th Infantry.  He was involved in many battles and mustered out in June 1865.

JUDSON LOW was born January 1839 and enlisted October 1861 in the 9th Cavalry.  He was a sergeant and was wounded at Gettysburg.  He died at Seminary Hospital November 1863 and his remains were sent home.  His parents were Ten Eyck and Abigail (Buchanan) Low.

EMORY MOYER was born in 1832 and enlisted in the 154th Infantry in August 1862.  He was killed at Chancellorsville May 1863.  He was buried on the battlefield.  His parents were John and Sally (Winsor) Moyer.

TIMOTHY LEAN was born in Ireland and enlisted in the 6th Cavalry in 1861.  He served all through the war.  His health was impaired.  He was 27 in 1865.

WARREN R. FAY was born in 1819 in Massachusetts.  He enlisted February 1864 in the 15th Cavalry.  He died in Washington September 1865.  His parents were June and Olive (Rice) Fay.

WILLIAM O. LAIDLAW was born in Scotland.  He enlisted in august 1864 in the Navy.  He was a law student.  He served to the end of the war.  His father was Robert Laidlaw.

DAVID PHILLIPS enlisted in 1861 in the 6th Cavalry.  He was killed at White House, Virginia June 1864.  He was buried on the battlefield.  His parents were Peter and Lucy (McClure) Phillips.

ORLANDO F. DAY enlisted June 1861 in the 21st Infantry.  Her was wounded at Alexandria and died there August 1861.  His parents were Joel and Harriet (Marvin) Day.

WILLIAM H. BENEDICT enlisted February 1864 in the 15th Cavalry.  He died of inflammation of the lungs March 1864.

GILBERT DILTS enlisted in 1863 in the 154th Infantry.  He was a sergeant and was killed in battle in Georgia.  He was buried on the field.

BARILLA CORTHELL enlisted August 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He died of disease in 1864 and is buried in Washington D.C.

WILLIAM MORTON OLDER was born March 1846 and enlisted in 1864 in the 15th Cavalry.  He served in Shenandoah Valley and was made a captain.  He died of starvation in Andersonville Prison August 8th, 1864.  His parents were Marvin and Diantha Reynolds Older.

WILLIAM LAWRENCE enlisted in 1861 in the 6th Cavalry.  He died at York Pennsylvania from exposure December 1861.  His parents were Joseph and Lydia Bennett Lawrence.

AZOR CURTIS WAS BORN April 1840 and enlisted May in the 188th Infantry.  He was discharged because of wounds.  He re-enlisted in the same company and was at the surrender of General Lee.  His parents were Solomon and Sarah Lyon Curtis.

FREDERICK BRONDART enlisted in December 1861 in the 105th New York.  He transferred to the 94th Infantry.  At the age of 26, in 1865, he lost his left arm.  He had been born in Holland to Wessel and Hannah Brondart.

JOHN MCCLURE ENLISTED IN 1861 in the 6TH Cavalry.  He was mortally wounded at Winchester and sent homer for burial.  His parents were David and Esther Morris McClure.

JOHN MCAFFUM was born in Ireland and enlisted in the 6th Cavalry in 1861.  He fought in many battles and was killed at Chancellorsville.  He was buried on the field.

WILLIAM W. PHILLIPS enlisted October 1861 as Lieutenant in the 6th Cavalry.  He was mortally wounded at Beverly Ford in June 1863 and died several days later.  His parents were Peter and Lucy Carpenter Phillips.

RUSSELL LATHAM  enlisted August 1864 in the Navy.  He died on shipboard in  the Tennessee River May 1865.  His parents were Joseph and Ally Crosby Latham.

PATRICK MCMAHON enlisted in the 6th Cavalry.  He4 died of disease at Alexandria, Virginia and is buried there.  His parents were John and Bridget Dillon McMahon.

GIDEON SEARL JR. was born in 1840 and enlisted February 1864 in the 5th Cavalry.  He was captured and sent to Anderson Prison.  He was exchanged and discharged in June 1865.  His parents were Gideon and Susana Howard Searl.

SAMUEL HOWARD enlisted in the Navy in August 1864.  He served as a sergeant in Key West on the Huntress.  His parents were Plara and Eliza Howard.

HANFORD SEARL enlisted in 1861 in the 86th Regiment.  He was wounded and died in the hospital. He was buried at home.  He had served in the Peninsula Campaign.  His parents were Samuel and Sophronia Burlingame Searl.

LAWRENCE DALLAS enlisted in 1861 in the 15th Cavalry and served one year.  He re-enlisted in the 15th Cavalry and served to the close of the war.  He was 21 in 1865.  His parents were Joseph and Lydia Bennett Dallas.

JAMES WHITE enlisted February 1864 in the 15th Cavalry.  He was captured by guerillas and sent to Andersonville.  He died of starvation August 1864.  His parents were James and Sunnah Burrows White.

JOSEPH LAWRENCE JR. enlisted June 1861 as a Sergeant.  He was discharged with a disability at the age of 22 in 1865.  His parents were Joseph and Lydia Bennett Lawrence.

CHARLES P. WILLIAMS was born in 1840.  He enlisted on a Navy gunboat in august 1864.  He substituted for Marshall O. Bond.  He died on the gun boat February 1865.  His burial is unknown.  His parents were Simeon and Prudence Morgan Williams.

WILLIAM WING was born in 1847 and enlisted in February 1864 in the 15th Cavalry.  He served in Sheridan’s Campaign and was discharged at the close of the war.  His parents were Elnathan and Henrietta Lockwood Wing.

CHARLES FITCH enlisted June 1861 in the 64th Infantry.  He served one year and died.  His parents were Ephraim and Harriet Smith Fitch.

BUEL REYNOLDS was born in 1842 and enlisted in the Navy in 1864.  He died of disease in May 1865.  His parents were Jepha and Orinda Moffett Reynolds.

MARVIN G. DAY enlisted in 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He was in the hospital most of the time in poor health.  He was 36 in 1865.  His parents were Joel and Harriet Marvin Day.

ROBERT EMMET OLDER was born July 1842 and enlisted in June 1861 in the 71st Brigade.  He was killed in battle in June 1864 and buried on the field.  His parents were Marvin and Diantha Reynolds Older.

MARSHALL O. BOND was born in 1830 and enlisted August 1862 in the 154th Infantry as a lieutenant.  He was in the battle of Fredericksburg.  He resigned in March 1863.  His parents were Ora and Laura Carpenter Bond.

CHARLES P. WILLIAMS, also from Franklinville, was born in 1844.  He enlisted in August 1864 and served on a Navy gunboat and substituted for Marshall Bond.   He died on the gunboat February 1865.  His burial is unknown.  His parents were Simeon and Prudence Morgan Williams.

WALLACE HOWARD was born January 1844 and enlisted in the 14th Artillery in 1863.  He lost a leg in June 1864 and was discharged.  His parents were John and Louise Elwell Howard.

JUSTIN SIMONS enlisted in 1861 in the 106th Infantry.  He died during General Sherman’s Campaign in Georgia.  His father was Oscar Simons.

FRANKLIN T. SAUNDERS enlisted in 1862 as a sergeant.  He served in many battles.  He was mortally wounded in the presence of General Early and died.  His remains were sent home to his parents Harvey and Sarah Hanford Saunders.

MARSHALL ROGERS was born September 1836 and enlisted in the 104th Infantry in 1861 and was a lieutenant in 1863.  He was wounded at the Battle of Stone Mountain in 1863.  He was captured at Weldon Railroad and sent to Libby Prison.  He was exchanged and returned to service.  He was discharged in 1865.  His parents were Nathaniel and Lucretia Crittendon Rogers.

EPHRAIM SMITH was born in 1844 and enlisted in the 6th Cavalry in 1861.  He was killed at Brandy Station in October 1863.  His body was sent home to his parents Joseph and Ophelia Fitch Smith.

LEONARD D. MCCLURE enlisted June 1861 in the 21st Infantry.  He served with the 21st and then re-enlisted in the 15th Cavalry.  He served until the end of the war.  He was at the Peninsular Campaign.  He was 33 years old in 1865.  His parents were David and Esther Morris McClure.

DALSTON SEARL enlisted June 1861 in the 64th Infantry.  He served 3 years and was discharged as a Corporal in 1865.  WALTER SEARL enlisted in in August 1861 in the Navy.  He served his term.  They were both the sons of Almond and Jane Scott Searl.

GILBERT BRIGGS enlisted March 1861 in the 25th Infantry.  He re-enlisted in 1864 in the 8 U.S.  He served in the Peninsula Campaign.  His parents were Allan and Jane McClure Brigg

DAVID ADAMS enlisted in 1861 in the 6th Cavalry and died of disease.  He was buried at Alexandria, Virginia.  His father was William Adams.

FRANKLIN SQUIRES enlisted February 1864 in the 15th Cavalry.  His parents were Edward and Susan Howard Squires.

ALLEN WILLIAMS enlisted in 1862 in the 154th Infantry as a Color Sergeant.  He served to June 1865.  His parent were Simeon and Prudence Morgan Williams

JOHN WHITNEY enlisted in 1861 in the 6th Cavalry. He was a sergeant. He was discharged because of injuries received in service.  He was 35 in 1865.

 

ISCHUA:

HENRY LOCKWOOD – enlisted in the 27th Infantry in 1862.  He was born in Ischua in 1840 to John and Roxanna (Sherlock) Lockwood.  He was killed at Gains Mills in June 1862 and was buried on the battlefield.

RANSOM AUGUSTUS CHADWICK enlisted in 1861 and re-enlisted in the Navy in 1864.  He was born in 1831 at Gainesville, New York.  He was taken prisoner at Plymouth, North Carolina and returned at the end of the War.

EUGENE BURLINGAME enlisted September 1863 in the 147th Infantry.  He was born in Ischua in 1841.  His parents were Philo and Sally (Dodge) Burlingame.  He was wounded at Williamsburg and died July 2nd, 1864.  His father went to Washington to bring him home.  He died in Ischua.

WILLIS HANCOCK GUILD enlisted August 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  His parents were Horace and Rhoda (Parker) Guild.  He was killed at Chancellorsville in May 1863 and buried there at age 30.  He left a wife and 2 children.

GEORGE THOMAS MORGAN enlisted in the 154th Infantry in 1862.  He was born in Lansing, New York to Nelson and Sara M. George.  He was wounded at Gettysburg and Lookout Mountain in his hand which made him a cripple.  He was a corporal at the age of 28 in 1865.

THOMAS LEARN enlisted in 1861 in the 85th Infantry.  His parents were Jacob and Catherine (Moyer) Learn.  He was wounded at Fair Oaks and his arm was amputated.

AMES HENRY LACAHO enlisted 1861 in the 85th Infantry.  He was born in 1835.  His parents were James and Mary (Newell) Lacaho.  He died at Yorktown.

BELA COLE CLINE enlisted September 1861 in the 85th Infantry.  He was born in Smithfield, New York in 1836.  His parents were Joseph F. and Loovia (Bennett) Cline.  He was taken prisoner at Plymouth, North Carolina and died August 21, 1844 at Andersonville and buried there.  He was 27 in 1865.

EDWIN WASHBURN MALLORY enlisted in 1861 in the 85th Infantry.  He was born in 1833 and his parents were Simeon and Sophronia (McNall) Mallory.  After 8 months he was taken sick and died in the hospital in Washington at age 24.

CHARLES JUSTUS CALDWELL enlisted in the 13th Artillery in 1864.  He was born in Ischua in 1846.  He was discharged in June 1865.  His parents were Anthony and Sarah (Lockwood) Caldwell.

JAMES H. LAWTON enlisted in 1864 in the 52nd Infantry 2nd Cavalry from Franklinville.  He did not return from the war.

RICHARD F. BRISTOL enlisted October 1861 in the 85th and 1st New York Artillery.  He was 21 when he died October 1864 at Roanoke Island from sickness.  He is buried there.

CYRUS WEBSTER NEWTON enlisted as a Corporal in the 85th Infantry in 1861.  He was born in Bingham in 1840.  His parents were Jesse and Louise (Bennett) Newton.  He was taken prisoner at Plymouth, North Carolina and died in Andersonville in august 1864 at the age of 24.

JONATHON C. SMITH enlisted in 1864 in the Navy on the Ship Undine.  He died of sickness in 1864 and is buried on an island in the Tennessee River.

JOHN CONRAD LEARN enlisted in 1864 in the 188th Infantry and Served 10 months.  He was 42 in 1865.  His parents were Jacob and Catherine (Moyer) Learn.

JAMES WHITMAN LEONARD enlisted in 1861 in the 35th Infantry as a corporal.  He was born in Ischua in 1837.  His parents were Aleyis and Hannah (Snow) Leonard.  He was taken prisoner at Plymouth, North Carolina and died at Andersonville Prison at the age of 26.

RANSOM TERRY enlisted in 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in Ischua in 1832.  His parents were Elisha and Almy (Hanley) Terry.  He was wounded at Gettysburg on July 1st, 1863.  He served 25 months.

SAMUEL MAGEE enlisted in 1861.  He was 27 when he died March 1863 of sickness.  He is buried at Bellplain, Virginia.

LEVI CASLER PARISH enlisted in 1861.  He was born in 1840 to Soloman and Barbara Blazier Parish.  He was killed at Rocky Point Virginia and buried at Cedarville.

WILLIAM WALLINGTON BARNARD enlisted as a corporal in 1861 in the 85th Infantry.  He was born in Ischua to Ashbel and Abigail H. Stowell Barnard in 1844.  He was taken prisoner at Plymouth, North Carolina and died in Andersonville Prison July 19th, 1864 at the age of 19.  He was buried there.

JAMES LEARN SHELDON enlisted in 1861 at Elmira in the 85th Infantry.  He was born in Cuba in 1837.  His parents were Gardner and Sylvia Newton Sheldon.  He served for two years and was killed at Plymouth, North Carolina in April 1864.  He died as a sergeant at the age of 26.

LEVI L. PEARL enlisted in 1861 in the 6th New York.  At the age of 24 he died at Rocky Point, Virginia and is buried in Cedarville.

ELEAZER DENSMORE enlisted in 1861and then re-enlisted in 1863 as a Sergeant in the 85th Infantry. He was born in Ischua in 1837.  His parents were William and Emaline Pierre Densmore.  He was taken prisoner at Plymouth, North Carolina and Died August 20th, 1864 in Andersonville Prison.

WILLIAM KING enlisted in the 15th Cavalry in 1864.  He was born in Franklinville in 1847.  His parents were Alnathan and Henriette Lockwood King.  He served 19 months and was discharged in August 1865.

CHARLES LYMAN GUILD enlisted in 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in Livingston, New York in 1824 to Horace and Rhoda Parker Guild.  He was taken prisoner and died at Andersonville Prison in August 1864.  He was a Sergeant and 38 years old when he died.

ALONZO LINDERMAN enlisted 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in 1827 at Ischua.  His parents were Nicholas and Rebecca Whitlock.  He served nearly three years and was discharged in June 1865.

WILLIAM WHITLOCK enlisted in 1864 in the 188th Infantry.  He was 35 years old when he was killed at the Battle of Hatcher’s Run and buried there.  He left a widow and 4 children.

RIDCHARD JAMES WRIGHT enlisted in 1861 in the 85th Infantry.  His parents were James and Julia Loop Wright.  He was taken sick and died the day his company was sent to North Carolina.

JOSEPH MORGAN enlisted in the 154th Infantry in 1864.  He was born in Allegany, New York.  His parents were John and Mary Smith Morgan.  He died in 1865.

HOSEA NAPOLEON CHADWICK enlisted in 1861.  He was born May 1835 at Wales.  His parents were Hosea and Mary Derby Chadwick.

EDWIN E. OSGOOD enlisted in in the 154th Infantry in 1862.  He was born in Ischua in 1838.  He was taken prisoner in the Battle at Gettysburg and died in the hospital in Richmond.

MARTIN CRAMER enlisted September 1864 in the 13th Artillery.  He was born in 1839 and his parents were Peter and Margaret Springer Cramer.  He was discharged in 1865.

ZENAS J. BESECKER enlisted in the Navy in 1864.  He served on the ship Undine.  He was 25 in 1865.  He was born in Pennsylvania and his parents were George and Sarah Besecker.  He later transferred to the ship Cincinatti.

JACOB SHAFFER enlisted in the 154th Infantry in 1862.  He was born in Hamilton, New York and his parents were Adam and Susannah Metcher Shaffer.  He was wounded in the Battle at Gettysburg and died in Richmond at the age of 26 in 1865.

GEORGE H. STEWART enlisted in the Navy in October 1861 and died at the age of 22.

WASHINGTON S. HATCH enlisted in 1864 in the Navy and served on the ship Undine.  He was 26 in 1865. His parents were Charles and Arma Hatch.

ALBERT AUSTIN SIMONS enlisted in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in 1844.  His parents were David and Charl Smith Simons.  He was 47 in 1865.  He served as a physician in the hospital.

GEORGE ALBRO enlisted in September 1862 in the 136th Infantry.  He was 43 when he died in March 1864 at Ischua after leaving the service.  He is buried in Lyndon.

LYMAN HAYES BEEBE enlisted 1864 in the 13th Artillery.  He was born in Connecticut in 1835.  His parents were Austin L. and Lucy W. Hayes Beebe.  He was discharged June 1865 at age 29 in 1865.

STEPHEN OSGOOD enlisted in 1862.  He was born in 1835 in Ischua.  He was injured at Chancellorsville.  His parents were Be4njamin and Chloe Densmore Osgood.

CHARLES MILLER enlisted in the 154th Infantry at the age of 21.  He was wounded in his thumb and lost use of it.

LEROY PARKER enlisted in 1864 in the 85th Detachment.  His parents were David and Clarissa Preston Parker.  He served 10 months and was wounded in his arm.

LYMAN THORNTON enlisted in 1862 in the 154th Infantry. He was born in Yorkshire.  His parents were Alonzo and Adaline Stewart Thornton. He served nearly 3 years and was 18 years old in 1865.  He was only 15 at the time of his enlistment.

MORRIS LEARN enlisted 1864 in the 188th Infantry.  He was born in 1840.  His parents were Jacob and Catherine Moyer Learn. 

THOMAS LEARN enlisted in 1861 in the 85th Infantry.  He was born in 1819.  His parents were Jacob and Catherine Moyer Learn.  He was wounded at Fair Oaks and his arm was amputated.

WILLIAM WALTER OSGOOD enlisted in 1862 as a Corporal in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in Ischua in in 1836.  His parents were Benjamin and Chloe Densmore Osgood.  He was discharged in June 1865 at the age of 29.

ADDISON SHAFFER enlisted in the 154th Infantry in 1863.  AUGUSTUS SHAFFER enlisted July 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  JAMES SHAFFER enlisted in 1864.  Their brother JEROME SHAFFER enlisted in the 154th Infantry in 1862 and died at Hatcher’s Run in 1865.   JACOB SHAFFER enlisted in the 154th Infantry and was wounded at Gettysburg.  He died in 1865 in Richmond.  They were the sons of Adam and Susannah Mitchen Shaffer.

CHAUNCEY BENJAMIN WILBUR enlisted in 1863 in the 13th H Artillery. He was born in 1841.  His parents were Abner and Abigail Bennett Wilbur.  He served 2 years and was discharged as a Corporal in August 1865 at the age of 24.

EDMUND CURTIS GUILD enlisted 1864 in the 91st Infantry.  He was born in Ischua in 1837.  His parents were Horace and Rhoda Parker Guild.

LYMAN ELITHORP enlisted March 1862 in the 105th Infantry.  He was born in Freedom in 1840.  His parents were George and Amarilla Moore Elithorp.  He was wounded.

THOMAS COLE WILBUR enlisted in 1864 in the 13th Artillery Company H.  He was born in 1838.  His parents were Abner and Abigail Bennett Wilbur. He was discharged in 1865 for illness.

 

YORKSHIRE:

CARLTON L. GILL – enlisted in October 1864 in the 90th Infantry Company H.  He was killed at Cedar Creek.

WARREN D. CROOK enlisted September 1861 in the 44th Infantry Company H at the age of 26.  He was killed at Hanover Courthouse May 15th.

ALONZO HAZEN COOK enlisted December 1862 in the 105th Infantry Company Kat age 49.  His parents were Richard and Eliza (Hubbard) Cook.  He was wounded in the head and suffered an eye injury.  He was also a prisoner.

HORACE M. BEACH enlisted February 1861 as Sergeant in the 5th Minnesota at age 31.  He died January 1865 at New Albany, Indiana of wounds received in battle.  He is buried there.  He left a widow.

JEFFERSON BROWN enlisted January 1864 in the 2nd Mounted Rifles Company K.  At the age of 18 he died at Camp Stoneman Hospital.  His parents were Caleb and Eliza (Williams) Brown.

DANNIE E. BRAND enlisted July 1862 in the 154th Infantry Company D.  He was a prisoner in 1863.  He was killed in Georgia June 1864.  He is buried at Golgotha, Georgia.  He left a widow.  His parents were Samuel and Eliza (Champlin) Brand.

CHARLES BROOKMAN enlisted August 2862 for 3 years in the 154th Infantry Company D. He was wounded and a prisoner at Gettysburg.  He escaped.

NATHAN ELIJAH GOULD enlisted in December 1863 for 3 years in Company B 2nd Mounted Rifles at age 17.  He was wounded at Petersburg.  His parents were Warren and Caroline Gould.

ORLANDO P. FULLER enlisted in December 1861 in the 105th Infantry Company K at the age of 27.  He was taken prisoner twice.  He served to the end of the war.  His parents were S.W. and Jane D. Fuller.

DAVID GOULD JR. enlisted December 1861 in the 105th Infantry Company K.  He was a 1st Lieutenant and discharged at the age of 40 in July 1862 for a disability.  His kneecap was dislocated.

FRANKLIN E. FREEMAN enlisted May 1861 for 3 years in the 71st Infantry Company I. He was 29 years old.  He re-enlisted in the 2nd Brigade and was wounded in the face and neck.  His parents were Loyal and Elmira Freeman.

MARTIN COLE enlisted August 1862 in the 27th Ga. S.V. at the age of 30.  His parents were Truman and Octavia Cole.  His left wrist was stiffened by inflammatory rheumatism.

GEORGE WASHINGTON BAILEY enlisted in 154th Infantry Company D in 1862 at the age of 38.  He was discharged in January 1863 for a spinal injury.  His parents were Abraham and Sally Bailey.

MARTIN A. KELLER enlisted August 1862 in the 154th Infantry Company D. He was a corporal and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant.  He was wounded and a prisoner at Gettysburg.

GEORGE CLEVELAND enlisted in September 1864 for three years in the 188th Infantry Company A at age 37.  He died at home of disease in 1865.

WILMOT M. CHENEY enlisted September 1864 in the 9th Cavalry at age 36.  He died March 1865 of disease at Harper’s Ferry and left a widow.

WILLIAM H. CARD enlisted August 1862 in the 145th Pennsylvania Infantry.  He died December 1864 at Andersonville, Georgia of starvation and exposure while a prisoner of war. He was buried there.

RUEBEN KING enlisted September 1864 for one year in 188th Infantry as a corporal.  At the age of 29 he was killed in action on October 27th, 1864 near City Point, Pennsylvania and is buried there.  He left a widow and 3 children.

JAMES PHELPS enlisted January 1862 for 3 years as a musician in the 105th Infantry Company K.  He died April 1864 of disease at Annapolis, Maryland at the age of 34.  He left a widow and 3 children.

JAMES C. DOWD enlisted January 1862 in the 105th Company K at the age of 42.  He was wounded at Gettysburg in 1863 and became a prisoner in 1864.  He died that year in Virginia.

HARRISON HUMPHREY enlisted in August 1861 in the 85th Infantry.  He died at the age of 26 in Andersonville where he was held prisoner.  He is buried there.

JAMES M. DEGIN enlisted September 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He died November 1863 of starvation and exposure at Richmond, Virginia.  He is buried there.  He left behind a widow.

CHESTER D. KOWS enlisted July 1861 in the 12th Illinois at the age of 22.  He died May 1863 of disease in Corinth, Mississippi and is buried there.

A.J. ABRAMS enlisted in the 9th Heavy Artillery in August 1861 at the age of 34.  He was promoted to Ordinance Sergeant.  He lost his right leg.

DENNIS SNYDER enlisted in August 1862 in the 154th Infantry, Company D.  He was 20 years old.  He was killed at Gettysburg in July 1863.

JASSAPH SIMON enlisted February 1862 in the 105th Infantry, company K.  He was 38 years old.  He died August 1862 at Alexandria of disease and is buried there.

EASON W. BULL enlisted July 1862 in the 154th Infantry Company D at the age of 23.  He died at Brooks Station of disease.  He was buried there February 1863.  He left a widow.

LEROY R. SNYDER enlisted May 1861 in 10 Pennsylvania VR.C. at the age of 22.  He died October 16th, 1862 at Meadville, Pennsylvania and is buried at Warren.

JOHN HENRY ROSE enlisted May 1861 for 3 years in the 71st Infantry, Company I.  He re-enlisted February 1864 and was taken prisoner at Hatcher’s Run in May 1865.  His parents were Henry and Jane Whiting Rose.

ALFRED O. HALL enlisted November 1861 for 3 years in the 78th Infantry Company G.  He also served in the Pennsylvania.  He died November 1864 of disease in Washington D.C.  He was buried there.

ISRAEL RICHARDS ENLSITED August 1862 for three years in the 154th Infantry, Company D.  He was wounded a Rocky Face Ridge, Georgia.  His parents were Nelson and Roxanna Follett Richards.

JOHN J. SNYDER enlisted September 1864 in the 154th Infantry.  He died at the age of 19 of disease in February 1865.  He is buried in Savannah, Georgia.

CHAUNCEY DEAN enlisted April 1864 for 2 years in the Navy.  He was 32 years old and a quartermaster on the boat Tecumseh and the Jackson Yeoman.  His parents were John and Emeline Woodworth Dean.

WILLIAM E. HAYES enlisted February 1862 in the 105th Infantry Company K at the age of 20.  He was discharged for disability in 1863.  His parents were Amos H. and Delight Dropsical Hayes.

WILLIAM L. CURTIS enlisted in September 1864 in the 188th Infantry Company A.  He died in Alexandria, Virginia in 1865 of disease.

LOYAL C. FREEMAN enlisted august 1862 for 3 years in the4 154th Infantry Company D. at the age of 55.  He was discharge in January 1863 for disability.  His parents were Elisha and Ruth Hewitt Freeman.

GEORGE BASSETT enlisted for 3 years in August 1862 in the 154th Infantry Company d.  He was a prisoner at Gettysburg in July 1863.  His parents were Richard and e4lect Bassett.

BENJAMIN F.S. BENTLEY enlisted in July 1862 for 3 years.  He was wounded in June 1864 AT AGE 29.  He was discharged at the end of the war.  His parents were William and Maria Story Bentley.

CHARLES ELMER KING enlisted July 1862 for 3 years in the 154th Infantry Company D.  At age 32 was wounded at Rocky Face Ridge and Dalton, Georgia. His parents were Charles and Clarissa Sherman King.

ANDREW J. LANGMADE enlisted Dece4mber 1861 in the 105th Infantry Company K as a sergeant.  At the age of 25 he was a prisoner at Gettysburg.  He served to the end of the war. His father was James A. Langmade.

LEANDER MORSE enlisted December 1861 in the 105th Infantry Company K at the age of 21.  He was wounded at Gettysburg and transferred to the 94th New York.  He was discharged at the end of the war.  His parents were Samuel and R.B. Morse.

WILLIAM F. SNYDER enlisted in February 1863 in the 111th Pennsylvania at the age of 19.  He died March 1864 at Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and is buried at Warren.  He left a widow.

HARVEY C. HALL enlisted September 1861 for 3 years in the 44th Infantry Company H. He was wounded at Wilderness and honorably discharged.  His parents were Darwin and Clarissa Sutley Hall.

VAN RENSSELAER KING enlisted for 1 year in the 120th Infantry Company D.  He was wounded at Hatcher’s Run October 1864.  His parents were Ben Franklin and Polly Kirby King.

JOHN WENZEL enlisted July 1862 in the 154th at the age of 20.  He died June 10th, 1863 and is buried at Stafford C.H.

MARION F. THORNTON enlisted February 1862 in the 105th Infantry Company K.  At age 23 he transferred to the 94th New York.  He was wounded at White Oak Swamp.  He was a prisoner at Gettysburg and received a wound in his left leg.  His parents were Samuel and Abigail Langmade Thornton.

HENRY ADAMS enlisted December 1861 for 3 years in the 154th Infantry Company K.  He was wounded and a prisoner at Gettysburg.  He was discharged at the end of the wa

JAMES M. HAYES enlisted September 1863 in the 76th Infantry Company A at the age of 29.  He was wounded at the Battle of Wilderness which resulted in a stiff ankle.  His parents were James and Electa Kelly Hayes.

WILLIAM FAY BEACH enlisted August 1862 for 3 years in the 154th Infantry Company D at the age of 37.  He was discharged at the end of the war.  His parents were George and Abigail Beach.

GREENE PERRYMAN enlisted February 1862 in the 105th Infantry Company K at the age of 37.  He was a prisoner in 1862.  He was wounded in 1864 and transferred to the 94th New York.. He had a bad wound above his right ankle.  He was discharged at the end of his term.

GEORGE RUSSELL BUMP enlisted in September 1861 in the 44th Infantry Company H.  He was wounded at Malvern Hill.  His father was Harley Bump.

 

FARMERSVILLE:

EDWARD D. CURTIS  - enlisted in 1861 in the 1st Pennsylvania Rifles.  At the age of 26 in 1865 he was made a sergeant.  He lost his right leg at Gettysburg.

EDWARD HARRIS enlisted 1864 in the 15th Cavalry at the age of 27.  He died March 1864 at Elmira of sickness.  He is buried in Lyndon.  He left a widow and two children.

LEVI CARPENTER was born in 1841 and enlisted in the 64th Infantry.  His parents were Jonathan and Lucinda (Hills) Carpenter.  He was mortally wounded at Gettysburg and died there at age 22.

DAVID COLBY was born in 1846 and enlisted in 1862 in the 64th Infantry.  His father was John Colby.  He was wounded at Fredericksburg and died in camp in Decermber 1862.

MORTIMER DELOOS HAYFORD was born in 1846 and enlisted in the 64th Infantry in 1861.  His parents were Samuel and Mary (Gilbert) Hayford.  He was mortally wounded at Fair Oaks and buried on the battlefield at age 23 in 1865.  In 1862 he had been shot through the head.

CORYDON HOLMES enlisted in 1864 in the Navy.  He served on the boat Tara Wah.  He was discharged at the age of 28 in June 1865.

ZINA LANDMAN AUSTIN enlisted in 1864 in the Navy.  He died from typhoid fever in January 1865 on the Red Rover Ship.  He is buried in Kentucky.

THOMAS DARLING enlisted in 1864 in the 2nd Artillery Company H.  He was 20 years old in 1865.  His parents were William and Mary Darling.  Both his jaws were broken at Sold Spring Harbor.

SPENCER FRASIER enlisted in 1862 in the 64th Infantry at the age of 22.  He die4d February 1863 at Alexandria of smallpox and was buried there.  He left a widow.

WILLIAM WALLACE HAYFORD was born in 1846 and enlisted in the 64TH Infantry in 1862.  His parents were Samuel and Mary (Gilbert) Hayford.  He was discharged in June 1864 and was 19 in 1865.  He was the color sergeant for his regiment.

HENDRICK CAMPBELL CONRAD was born in 1848 at Woodhouse and enlisted in the 161st Infantry in 1864.  His parents were Henry and Julia (Parthania) Conrad.  He died aboard the vessel bound for New Orleans September 1864.

EDWARD HERRICK was born in 1844 and enlisted in 1861 in the 2nd Rifles.  His parents were Michael and Helen (Connors) Herrick.  He was at the surrender of Lee.  He was discharged August 1865.

FREEMAN CLEVELAND was born in Pennsylvania in 1833.  He enlisted in the 64th Infantry in 1862.  He spent 2 years in the hospital and was discharged in 1865.  His parents were Lucius and Sarah (Cady) Cleveland.

DAVID COOLEY enlisted in 1864 in the 64th Infantry at the age of 20.  He died of wounds before Fredericksburg and is buried in Farmersville.

DANIEL DAY was born in 1836 and enlisted in the 64th Infantry in 1861.  His parents were David and Clara Day.  He was wounded five times at Fair Oaks.  He was discharged in 1864.

ADALBERT CARPENTER was born in 1838 and enlisted in 1861.  He was a sergeant in the 64th Infantry and his parents were David and Marcia (Mullikens) Carpenter.  He was wounded May 1864 and discharged November 1864.

DANIEL AUSTIN was born in 1844 and enlisted in 1862.  He was a sergeant in the 154th Infantry.  His parents were Edwin and Polly (Smith) Austin.  He was wounded at Hatcher’s Run and discharged at the age of 21 in 1865.

HENRY S. PATTERSON was born in 1836 and enlisted in the 154th Infantry in in 1862.  He died January 1863 of brain fever in Baltimore.  He left a widow and one child.  He is buried at Baltimore.

ALFRED ELISHA KNIGHT was born in 1833 and enlisted in the 105th Infantry in 1862.  His parents were Andrew and Olive Brewer Knight.  He was captured at Weldon R.R. and sent to Libby Prison and Andersonville Prison.  He was exchanged and died at Annapolis April 1865.  He is buried in Freedom.  He left a wife and 2 children.

JOHN MERRILL was born in 1842 and enlisted in the 64th Infantry in 1861.  He was mortally wounded at Fair Oaks and buried on the battlefield. He was born in 1842.  His father was Smith Howe.

ORMIS NICHOLS was born in 21842 in Warsaw and enlisted in 1862 in the 2nd Rifles.  His parents ware John and Ann Seely Nichols.  He was killed on picket duty in June 1864 and is buried on the field.  He left a widow.

DEWITT C. PELTON enlisted in 1864 in the 2nd Mounted Rifles.  He died in 1865 before Petersburg at the age of 31.  He left a widow and 5 children.

JAMES RAY was born in Rhode Island in 1837 and enlisted in 1862.  His parents were James and Maryann Dennamy Ray.  He was wounded at Gettysburg and died in the hospital in August 1863.  He is buried in Farmersville.

FRANCIS HOWARD enlisted in August 1862 in the 64th Infantry.  His parents were George and Mary Howard.  He was killed at Gettysburg and buried there.

NORTON BYINGTON enlisted in the 5th Cavalry in august 1861.  He re-enlisted in January 1864.  He was wounded in June 1864 but returned to his regiment in September 1864.  He was discharged in 1865.  His parents were Rubiad and Olive Norton Byington.

JAMES M. STONE enlisted in the 67th Infantry as a Sharpshooter in 1861.  He was discharged in 1865.  His parents were Edmund and Rebecca stone.

JOHN BUSH WAS BORN IN 1836 AND ENLISTED IN 1862 IN THE 154TH Infantry as a sergeant.  His parents were Joseph and Lucretia Green Bush.  He was wounded in his arm at Gettysburg and discharged in June 1865.

MELVIN HENRY ROBBINS was born in 1835 and enlisted in the 64th Infantry in 1862.  His parents were Richard and Mary Henry Robbins.  He was mortally wounded at Petersburg and buried on the field.  He was a sergeant and 28 years old when he died in June 1864.

PERCIVAL KINGSBURY born 1842 in Rushford enlisted the 64th Infantry in 1861.  His parents were William and Margaret Barr Kingsbury.  He was discharged from the hospital in July of 1862.  He re-enlisted in H Artillery in 1863 and was discharged August 1865.

DAVID ADAMS was born in 1846 and enlisted in the 6th Cavalry in 1861.  His parents were William and Lucy West Adams. He died in the hospital in 1862.

PATRICK LEON was born in Ireland and enlisted in 1861.  He was wounded at Fair Oaks and died in the hospital.

FRANKLIN OSBORN was born in 1840 and enlisted in 1861 as a Sergeant in the 64th Infantry.  His parents were Roderick and Mary Ann Harwick Osborn.  He was wounded at Chancellorsville and discharged in October 1864.

HENRY AUSTIN CONRAD was born in 1822 and enlisted in 1864 in the 161st Infantry.  His parents were John and Catherine Root Conrad.  He was wounded and discharged in June 1865.

ADELBERT WALTER LITTLE was born in 1845 and enlisted in the 94th Infantry in 1864.  His parents were Walter and Eliza A. Potter Little.  He was wounded in his right foot at Hatcher’s Run and discharged in June 1865 at the age of 19.

WILLIAM MORTON RHODES was born in 1846 in Rhode Island.  He enlisted in the 64th Infantry.  His parents were William and Ann Weston Rhodes.  He died of typhoid fever at Yorktown at the age of 17 in 1862 and is buried there.

JOHN BARNS enlisted in 1861 in the 164th Infantry.  He was 56 in 1865.  He was shot through both thighs near North Anna River.

WALTER NATHANIEL LITTLE was born in 1822 and enlisted in the 105th Infantry  in 1862.  His parents were William and Lurann Manwaring Little.  He was in the 2nd Battle of Bull Run and was discharged in 1865 at the age of 43.

W. EDGAR enlisted 1861 in the 9th Cavalry at the age of 24.  He died in May 186 at Cold Harbor and is buried there.

ADAM C. BANNISTER enlisted in 1861 and served as a seaman on the Flambeau.  He was 47 years old in 1865.  He had been born in Vermont.

WALTER FRESHIRE was born in 1835.  He enlisted in 1862 in the 64th Infantry.  His parents were John and Marie Seely Freshire.

NATHANIEL TRUMAN HUNT was born in 1841 in Saratoga and enlisted in the 64th Infantry in 1861.  He was wounded in 1864.  He was discharged December 1864 when his right arm was broken at Petersburg.  His parents were Gilbert and Sarah Gavin Hunt.

GUY CARLTON LEWIS was born in 1833 and enlisted in the 64th Infantry in 1861.  His parents were Caleb and Joanne Wade Lewis.  He re-enlisted in May 1864 as a sergeant in the 64th Infantry.  He was discharged in 1865.

AMOS ANSON BROWN was born in 1844 in Centerville.  He enlisted in the 154th Infantry.  He was discharged in in 1865 at the age of 20.  His parents were Elipah and Lonza Clement Brown.

HENRY LITTLE enlisted in 1862 in the 195th Infantry.  His parents were William and Lurann Manwaring Little.  He was discharged in June 1865.

STANLEY NOBLE POTTER was born 1842.  He was a Sergeant in the 1st Rifles Cavalry.  His parents were Joseph and Mary Uglie Potter.  He was 22 years old in 1865

LUTHER MERRIMAN SESSIONS was born in 1848 and enlisted in the 2nd H Artillery.  His parents were Israel and Sophia Shepard Sessions.  He died of inflammation of the lungs at Elmira, March 1864.

ALBERT SESSIONS enlisted in the Navy in 1864.  He served on the ship Undine.  He died at Clarksville, Tennessee of sickness and is buried there.  He left a widow and three children.

GEORGE HARVEY CAGWIN enlisted 1862 as a Sergeant in the 105th Infantry.  He was discharged from the hospital in November 1862.  His parents were George F. and Aurilla A. Crumb Cagwin.

LEROY CURTIS WATKINS enlisted 1861 in the 64th Infantry.  His parents were Curtis and Harriet Watkins.  He was wounded at Fair Oaks and discharged in 1862 at the age of 32.  He had been born in Massachusetts.

HIRAM LAWRENCE enlisted 1864 in the 5th New York Cavalry.  He was 39 in 1865.  His mother was Esther Lawrence.  He was discharged in June 1865.

JAMES TEN BROECK GILES was born in 1845 and enlisted in the 2nd Rifles.  He was discharged August 1865 at the age of 20 as a Sergeant.  His parents were George and June Hayford Giles.

MARION BAKER enlisted in the 120th New York in 1864.  He was 19 years old in 1865 when he was discharged.  His parents were Edwin W. and Harriett Baker. 

 

LYNDON:

HENRY F. TAYLOR – enlisted in 1861 in the 6th Cavalry.  His parents were Ashel and Mary Taylor. He was born in 1840.  He died in Atlanta in 1863 and is buried at Antietam.

GEAR B. OSMAN enlisted in 1861 in the 64th Infantry.  He was born in 1832.  His parents were Joseph and Matilda (Sawyer) Osman.  He was with General McClellan.  He died at Alexandria in May 1862.

BRICE DAY enlisted 1861 in the 33rd Illinois at the age of 25.  He died at Mound City, Illinois in September 1862 of typhoid fever.

JAMES JOHNSTON enlisted in 1863 in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in 1843.  His parents were Joseph and Isabelle (Little) Johnston.  He was a Doctor’s Assistant.  He was wounded in the arm in Georgia and sent to Camp Denison in Ohio.  He died of smallpox September 1864.

JESSE CAMPBELL enlisted in the 154th Infantry in 1862.  He had been born in Scotland in 1835.  His parents were Dexter and Caroline Campbell.  He was killed by accident at Springfield in December 1864 and buried there.

EDMUND STONE enlisted in 1862 in the 64th Infantry.  He was born in 1841.  He served as a Corporal.  His parents were Edmund and Rebecca Stone.  He was shot at Gettysburg and died July 2nd, 1863.  He carried the flag of his regiment.

BENJAMIN HOGG ENLISTED AT Genesee in the 104th Infantry.  He was born in 1841.  His parents were George and Abigail (Reynolds) Hogg.  He lost his right hand in battle at Salisbury in November 1862.

MERRILL HOLULLING (?) enlisted in 1863 IN THE 22nd Cavalry.  He was 17 years old.  He was taken prisoner by bushwackers and never heard from again.

GEORGE DAVIDSON enlisted in 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in 1843 to George and Jean Davidson.  He was taken prisoner at Gettysburg and discharged in 1863.

JAMES CHASE enlisted in 1863 in the 15th Infantry.  He was born in New Hampshire and his parents were James and Milly (Elsworth) Chase.  He died June 1863 at the age of 54.

HENRY I. RIDER enlisted in 1861 in the 37th Infantry.  He was born in 1842.  His parents were Ephraim and Eleanor Rider.  He died of congestion of the lungs January 1864.

JEPHTHA BEEBE enlisted in 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in 1840 and killed at Chambersburg May 1863.

JOHN MITCHELL enlisted as a lieutenant in the 154th Infantry in 1862.  He was born in Scotland in 1839.  His parents were John and Maretta (Sileppy) Mitchell.  He was taken prisoner at Gettysburg, escaped and got back to his regiment.  He was detailed to drive government cattle.

OSEAN ADAMS enlisted in the 154th Infantry in 1862. His parents were Nelson and Diantha (Wood) Adams.  He was born in Pennsylvania in 1841.  He was killed in the march to Atlanta September 1864.

JOHN B. HOGG enlisted August 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in 1836.  His parents were George and Abigail (Reynolds) Hogg.  He was taken prisoner at Gettysburg and sent to Belle Isle and finally to Andersonville.

WILLIAM JOHNSTON ELISTED 1864 IN THE Navy.  He was born in 1836.  His parents were Joseph and Isabelle (Little) Johnston.  He had smallpox and was discharged June 1865.  He had been born in England.

AUGUSTUS VAUGHN enlisted 1861 in the 64th Infantry.  He died near Plymouth and is buried there.

ALISON THOMPSON enlisted in 1861 in the 5th Cavalry .  He was born in 1843. His parents were James and Sally Ann (Fargo) Thompson.  He was taken prisoner but escaped.  He served with Sheridan.  He was discharged in 1865.

EDWARD PRATT enlisted in the Cavalry in 1861.  He was born to Jeremiah and Sally Pratt in 1837.  He was a Corporal and was killed September 1864.  He is buried in Berryville.

JOHN MITCHELL enlisted in 1862 as a Lieutenant in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in 1839 in Scotland to John and Maretta Sileppy Mitchell.  He was taken prisoner at Gettysburg and escaped.  He was able to get back to his regiment.  He was then detailed to drive government cattle.

AUGUSTUS VAUGHN enlisted in 1861 in the 64th Infantry.  He died near Plymouth and is buried there.

HIRAM HALE enlisted in 1861 in the 85th New York Regiment. At the age of 37 he was discharged because of wounds.

ASHAEL L. TAYLOR enlisted in 1862 at the age of 29.  He died in Lyndon in 1862 of disease.

JAMES MCFARLAND enlisted in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in 1845.  His parents were James and Catherine McFarland. He was taken prisoner at Gettysburg.

JOHN B. HOGG enlisted August 1862 in the 154th Infantry.  He was born in 1836  and his parents were George and Abigail Reynolds Hogg.  He was taken prisoner at Gettysburg and sent to Belle Isle Prison.  Finally he was taken to Andersonville Prison.

GEORGE, JOHN AND WILLIAM OGILVIE were brothers who enlisted in September 1861. They were the sons of William and Margaret Ogilvie.  George 17, John 23 and William 21 all served in the 1st New York.

OTTO HOWARD enlisted in 1862 in the 22nd Cavalry.  He was born in 1847 and his parents were Silas P. and Hannah Swift Howard.  He was with General Sheridan.  He was discharged in 1865.

DARIUS LATIZEN enlisted 1861 in the 85th Infantry.  He was born in 1832 and his parents were Joseph and Lucinda spencer Latizen.  He became ill and was discharged in October 1862.

HIRAM HALE enlisted in the 85th New York Regiment in 1861 at the age of 37.  He was discharged on account of his wounds.

THOMAS M. STONE enlisted May 1861 in the 64th Infantry.  He was born in 1838.  His parents were Edmund and Rebecca Stone.  He was discharged November 1863.

JOHN MITCHELL was born in Scotland in 1839.  He enlisted as a lieutenant in the 154th Infantry in 1862.  His parents were John and Maretta Sileppy Mitchell.  He was taken prisoner at Gettysburg, escaped and got back to his regiment.  He was detailed to drive government cattle.

CHARLES A. THORNTON enlisted  in the 81st New York in 1861 at the age of 26.  He was wounded.

MICHAEL DAVID COOLEY enlisted in the 64th Infantry in 1864.  He was born in 1844.  His parents were David and Roxanna Giles Cooley.  He was discharged in 1865.

JOHN T. WINCHELL enlisted in the 13th Artillery Company H.  He was born in 1844.  He was discharged in 1865.  His parents were David and Olive Emory Winchell.

WILLIAM R. CAMPBELL enlisted in 1862 in the 123rd Regiment at the age of 21.  His parents were D.R. and Margery Campbell.

ELIJAH F. YAW enlisted in 1862 in the 89th New York.  His parents wer Elijan and Phebe Yaw.

AVERY WINCHELL enlisted in 1864 in the 1st New York.  He was 24 in 1865.  His parents were James and Lydia Winchell.

JOHN PORTER enlisted in 1864 in the 9th cavalry.  He was born in 1844 and he was discharged in 1865.  His parents were Tyler and Ann A. Porter.

WALTER S. WRIGHT enlisted December 1862 in the 22nd Artillery at the age of 25.  He died at the Patent Office Hospital and is buried at Freedom.

ALBERT ROSE enlisted 1861 in the 104th Infantry. 

WILLIAM SATUN enlisted in 1861 at the age of 23 and was discharged in 1864.

WALLACE VAUGHN enlisted in the 90th Infantry in 1864.  He was born in 1845.  His parents were Henry and Mary Chase Vaughn.  He was discharged in 1865 because of sickness.

EDWIN M. KIDDER enlisted April 1865 in 81st Infantry.  He was 19 years old. His parents were Ephraim and Emeline Kidder.

SAMUEL LANGTON enlisted 1861 in the 2nd Infantry.  He was discharged June 1864.

HIRAM HALE enlisted in the 85th New York Regiment at age 37.  He was discharged on account of wounds.

JAMES R. A. CANNING enlisted in 1861 in the 65th New York Regiment.  He was a Sergeant.  He was 20 in 1865

FRANK THOMPSON enlisted in the 6th New York in at the age of 20.

JAMES MELROSE enlisted September 1864 in the Navy.  He was born in 1815.  His parents were Nicholas and Mary Meloy Melrose.  He was discharged in 1864.
