Jazaniah Howe

Jazaniah Howe (1752–1838)

A Revolutionary War Soldier with ties to Cattaraugus County.

Background: Born in Massachusetts, he died in either Gowanda or Ellicottville, NY, in March 1838 and is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery in Gowanda, NY.

Military Service: Enlisted in 1781 and served until June 1783. He received an honorable discharge signed by General George Washington on June 11, 1783, while serving as a Sergeant in the Invalid Corps.

Family: Married Lois Stevens in Wells, VT, in 1798. His widow later received a pension based on his service.
