Peth Area

Peth, a hamlet and station of the Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh Railroad, was the site of the first post office (1830) in the Town of Great Valley.  The first store opened here in 1815 and by the 1870's, Peth had established a tavern, school, blacksmith shop, a shingle mill, and a handle factory.  This area was known primarily for early logging and settlement with many moving to this area for business opportunities.
