Five Mile Cemetery in Allegany

Five Mile Cemetery is on Church Rd, which is off the Five Mile Rd. in the Town of Allegany.  It is near the Humphrey line.  According to a New York historical sign, Oscar Wilbur, a Civil War soldier who died from wounds received at Chancellorsville, is buried here.  He was the subject of Walt Whitman's 1884 essay: "A New York Soldier".  Located near marker 5871.
