Joint Olean City Churches presents an African-American Heritage Weekend to celebrate Black History Month! All are welcome to attend this nondenominational event! There will be various programs in honor of Heritage Weekend at Rossi’s church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church; Higginbottom’s church, Trinity United Methodist Church; and Meeks’ church, Bethany Lutheran Church.
On Friday the 19th at 6pm you can enjoy an African-American Music & Arts Fest at the Bethany-Lutheran Church (6 Leo Moss Dr. Olean).
On Saturday the 20th at 6pm you can enjoy a Film Presentation then Conversation on the movie "Selma" with special guest facilitator, Rev. Robert K. Hoggard, M.A. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church (109 South Barry St. Olean).
On Sunday the 21st you can enjoy an African-American Worship Service with special guest Rev. Winterbourne L. Jones, M. DIV from Indiana. This will be at 4pm at the Trinity United Methodist Church (131 North 9th St. Olean). The Gospel Choraliers will provide music.
The African-American Center for Cultural Development, will participate in the events and bring along some of the historical artifacts and prints from the Center.
