Park Square in Franklinville is in the center of the Village and was first mentioned as the Village Square in a letter dating back to 1822. The Militia used it as a drilling ground in the 1840's and it once had a bandstand were many performers entertained. The buildings surrounding the Square date back to the 1800's and are 19th-century and early 20th-century architectural styles including Queen Anne, Italianate, and Classical Revival.
Now a days a number of businesses ocuupy these buildings, including the Town of Franklinville Hall. The Square is used as a place to rest or visit the Wednesday Farmer's Market.
The Park Square Historic District at N. Main, Pine, Chestnut, S. Main, Elm & Church Sts. in Franklinville, NY was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
