Great Valley had its own school district until 1946. At that time the schools in Great Valley became a part of the Ellicottville Central School District. The photo showing students on the steps was printed in the Olean Times Herald in 1971. Mrs. Gerald A. Taylor is shown with her Kindergarten students. Mrs. Taylor had taught in that school for 22 years. The second adult in the photo is the Great Valley School Principal, Anthony Ramire. The article states Mr. Ramire will teach sixth grade in the Ellicottville Central School District in the next school year. This school is closing its doors after almost 70 years of continued use.
