The Shocking History of Hart Island
Sunday, September 15, 2019 - 7:00am to 8:00am

Michael T. Keene is a fascinating author who has been a guest speaker in Cattaraugus County over the past few years.  He has written a new book on Hart Island in New York City that is truly amazing.  He will be presenting free half hour weekly podcasts that explores the history of Hart Island, America’s largest mass graveyard.  Hart Island has been used as New York City’s potters’ field since 1869.  It is estimated that over 1,000,000 people are buried there.

Thanks to recent advances in DNA, we have now learned who some of these previously forgotten and anonymous people were.  The results are truly shocking.

Mr. Keene will interview a special guest each week from an extraordinary assembly of scholars, authors, and scientists in the fields of history, law, medicine, and the arts as they unravel a secret kept hidden for over 100 years.

There are 39 episodes planned, with a description of each on his website.  The first will be available starting Sunday, September 15th, 2019 at 7:00 A.M.  If you miss an episode after it has been posted, you can go to the website (https://michaeltkeene.com) and view it or download the podcast for later viewing.
